Most people who visit Charleston don’t realize there is a zoo in the city. It’s located at Charles Towne Landing State Historic Site, a 664-acre site along the marsh and the Ashley River that is home not only to a natural habitat zoo, but also miles of trails, historic exhibits, ongoing archaeological digs, and more.
The Animal Forest at Charles Towne Landing State Historic Site is accessible year-round (except Christmas Eve and Christmas Day). It’s located at 1500 Old Towne Rd., Charleston, SC 29407. The hours are 9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. daily. Admission includes access to Charles Town Landing as well as the Animal Forest.
